Symbol of Friendship and Interfaith Cooperation – Olive Tree Presentation by the Archdiocese of Sydney

Mr Shafiq Khan (Founder and Managing Director of Al-Faisal Colleges) received an olive tree from Most Reverend Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP and Sister Giovanni Farquhar RSJ, Director of the Archdiocese of Sydney's Commission for Ecumenical and Inter-Religious Relations. The olive tree was presented as a symbol of peace, friendship, unity and mutual respect between the Catholic and Muslim communities, reflecting the strong and enduring relationship between the Archdiocese of Sydney and Al-Faisal College.

The olive tree was planted at Al-Faisal College – Liverpool during a special ceremony attended by Ms Tina Ayyad MP, Member for Holsworthy and in the presence of Mrs J. Abrar (Head of College: Al-Faisal College – Liverpool). Al-Faisal College expressed its sincere appreciation to Most Reverend Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP, Sister Giovanni Farquhar RSJ and the Archdiocese of Sydney for this thoughtful and meaningful gesture, which serves as a lasting symbol of friendship, interfaith dialogue and the shared commitment to fostering understanding, harmony and cooperation between both faith communities.
